Some Expensive New Construction In Meaford

A building permit issued for a home worth over half a million dollars gave Meaford's building industry a boost last month.

Meaford's chief building official Rick Carefoot reports that his department issued eight building permits in November, with a total value of about $849,000. Among those permits was one for a new home worth an estimated $525,000.

That narrowed the gap between the total value of permits issued so far year, compared to the same 11 months of 2013.

Meaford's building department has issued 170 permits this year, worth about $10.8-million. That's about $1-million below the the 78 building permits Carefoot's department issued during the same period of last year.
