Meaford Considers Installing LED Lights

Meaford is exploring the possibility of replacing its 700 street lights with new and brighter LED lights.

Meaford's committee of the whole recommended that council pass a by-law to begin the process.

Treasurer Darcy Chapman said the Municipality would first sign a Letter of Intent with the company, RealTerm Energy.

This would give the company permission to carry out a detailed assessment of Meaford's present streetlighting network, and then present a recommendation to council.

Once council gives the go-ahead, workers would begin replacing the present streetlights for the new ones next spring. The company would provide maintenance on the new lighting system for ten years.
