BlackburnNews.com photoHydro One says a downed skywire caused the power outage for a large customer base in Huron County on Wednesday.
A skywire is the wire that runs above the transmission lines to protect them from lightning. The outage affected 23,000 Hydro One customers in Huron County and parts of Perth and Lambton counties. It also affected thousands more who are served by smaller utilities.
The outage started around 11am on Wednesday and power was restored about 1:30pm that afternoon.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
