Officer Charged After Cruiser Collides With Fergus School Bus

A Wellington County OPP Constable faces charges after a police cruiser collided with a school bus.

The crash occurred on Scotland St. in Fergus at about 3:50pm on December 9.

Police say their investigation revealed the officer failed to stop for a stopped school bus, and collided with the rear of the bus.

The officer was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

No one on the bus was hurt.

OPP Constable Alexander Smith is charged with start from a stopped position not in safety.
