West Grey Starts 2015 Budget Talks

West Grey Council looks at the 2015 budget today.
Council meets this afternoon to determine the spending plan for the coming year.
Treasurer Kerri Mighton has issued a report for council outlining some of the uncontrollable budget pressures the municipality faces.
She says they are losing almost $349,000 from the Ontario Municipal Partnership fund which would mean an increase of 4.65% to the tax rate.
The Group health benefits premium is going up by over $52,000, which would equal a .7% tax hike.
Insurance costs are also on the rise by between $52,000 and $116,000 depending on the deductible .

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
