Bluewater School Board Awaits Final Accommodation Review Guidelines

The Bluewater District School Board's director of education expects finalized guidelines from the province by the end of January on the school accommodation review process.

Boards across the province are dealing with declining enrolment and possible school closures.

The province has tabled initial proposals for changes to the accommodation reviews, including shortening the process from seven months to five and reducing the number of public meetings from four to two.

Bluewater Education Director Steve Blake says the public will have the opportunity for input on how the guidelines are implemented.

"We send them out to various groups, our parent involvement committees, our school councils, as well as providing people an opportunity on line to review," says Blake.

Blake says staff will make recommendations to the board on whether accommodation reviews should proceed after the province finalizes the changes.
