Minto Council Gets A Pay Raise

Minto council has decided what’s good for municipal staff is good for councillors.

Minto agreed to give its staff a 2 percent cost-of-living raise for 2015. But it struggled before deciding to give itself the same raise.

Most councillors agreed that it’s only fair for council to get the same as staff, and if it does not give itself regular small increases, it will fall behind and require a larger increase down the road.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
