New Construction In Minto Good For Tax Base

Minto has experienced a good year for new construction.

To the end of November, 162 permits were issued, compared to 148 for the same period last year.

The total value of permits this year is $14.2-million, which is down by about $1-million from last year.

However, last year’s total was given an unusual boost by a single $3-million permit for an expansion to the TG Minto auto parts plant in Palmerston.

"We had a great year. We’re up about twenty permits over last year. We had some industrial and commercial growth which is good for the tax base," says Minto Mayor George Bridge.
