We are approaching the 'dangerous' part of the Christmas season. December 21st, 22nd, and 23rd are considered the worst days of the year for vehicle collisions.
A 20 year study of data from customers of Allstate Insurance Company found that the next three days have the highest number of collision claims.
In the period from 1994 through 2013, there were 9,340 collision claims over those three dates; an average of 3,113 claims per day.
On the other hand, Christmas Day is the safest driving day of the year, with only 1,095 collision claims in the 20-year period.
While the data does not list the causes of these collisions, the next three days are among the busiest shopping days of the year. Drivers are reminded to stay focused, be patient in parking lots and searching for parking places, and drive according to the weather conditions.
