West Grey Fibre Optic Connectivity Funding Sought

The West Grey Fibre Optic Connectivity Project may receive funding from the Building Canada Fund, Small Communities Fund.Council gave the go ahead for staff to apply for a grant to help the project move forward.

Its expected to cost $1.4 Million over three years. The municipality must also secure two thirds funding for the project

The trunk lines are proposed to be installed along county and municipal roads.The CAO suggests that if 70% of services are connected, the project would generate over $262,000. a year, and the investment would be paid back in just over two years.

Council also learned that the project could increase competition and lead to lower rates.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
