Crazy Christmas Weather

It's going to be a wet and windy Christmas Eve in Midwestern Ontario .... and most of southern Ontario.

A Rainfall Warning has been issued for the Bruce Peninsula, from Sauble Beach to Tobermory.   Light rain and drizzle will intensify to periods of heavy rainfall late this afternoon, and continue through the evening.   There is a chance for an isolated thunderstorm.

The rain is expected to change to a couple centimetres of snow for the Bruce Peninsula Christmas morning, before tapering off to scattered flurries.

And all of our region is under a Wind Warning.    There will be a strong southwest blast ahead of a low pressure system that's tracking across Lake Huron.

Wind gusts of 60 to 80 km/h will continue for a few hours tonight, and ease somewhat by Christmas morning.

Environment Canada warns that wind gusts will be strong enough to bring down tree limbs and some trees, and cause local power outages.

A strong westerly wind will persist Christmas morning, and become lighter through the day. Midwestern Ontario communities near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay can expect some wet snow with the winds, but no significant accumulation Christmas day.
