Meaford Council Set Public Meeting For Downtown Building

Meaford council has set a date for a public meeting about a five-storey apartment and retail development proposed for the town's main street.

The open meeting isn't until February, but information notices about the meeting are being mailed out January 7th.

The owner of the building that houses the Simply Unique Floral and Gift shop and a wool and yarn shop wants to tear it down.

He wants to construct a five-storey building that would contain 90 apartments, and retail space on the ground level. It would also have underground parking.

But there will have to be an amendment to Meaford’s Official Plan to change a three-storey height limit.

The public meeting will be Monday, February 2nd in the Meaford Hall Opera House at 7:00 p.m.
