Christmas Morning Fire Destroys Chatsworth Township Home

The Chatsworth Fire Department are investigating after a Christmas Day fire destroyed a two-storey home.

Grey County OPP say they were called to the report of a structure fire at about 2:38am on East Back Line on Christmas morning.

The Grey Highlands Fire Department and Chatsworth Fire Department attended the fire, which they say was "fully involved" by the time they arrived.

Police say the 48-year-old homeowner was sleeping when he was awakened by the sound of fire alarms throughout the home. He then jumped out of a second storey window, later going to his neighbors house to call 9-1-1. He was taken to hospital and later released.

His wife, son and daughter were out of town at the time of the fire.

Police say the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
