South Huron Starts 2015 with New Fire Chief

South Huron's New Fire Chief starts his new job January 5th.

Andrew Baird has been hired to replace retiring Chief John Morgan.   Morgan has served for 41 years, starting as a volunteer firefighter, and ending as chief for the last 19 years.

Baird served 15 years with the Canadian Armed Forces, before becoming Operations Manager at Canadian Pacific for the past 14 years.   He has also served as a firefighter in Dutton Dunwich for the past 10 years, most recently as Captain.

He was chosen from 28 applicants, and a short list of 5 candidates.    He also becomes Emergency Services Manager for Huron East.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
