Minto New Building Values Down Slightly

Minto ended 2014 with a slight drop in the value of building permits issued over the year.

The total for 2014 was $14.7-million; down by about $700,000 from the year before.

However while the value was down, the number of permits issued in 2014 was up from the previous year by 14 for a total of 168.

Chief Building Official Terry Kuipers is predicting a strong year for 2015 based on building activity already on the books.

"The good news on the residential side is that we’re up on housing by almost 26 houses for about $5.7-million which is pretty amazing and has been steady over the past three years," says Mayor George Bridge.
