Listowel Rink Knocked Out Of Ontario Scotties

The defending champions of the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts was eliminated Friday.

Team Flaxey gave up points in the tenth end of both games losing 8-7 to Clancy Grandy and 7-6 to Jacqueline Harrison. The losses have eliminated them from the provincial championship in Penetanguishene.

Curling out of Listowel Curling Club, Alli Flaxey's rink led 7-5 heading into the final two ends of their opening draw. Team Grandy took one in the 9th and two more in the tenth for the victory.

The second draw became even more crucial. Coming in with a 4-4 record against a 5-3 rink skipped by Jaqueline Harrison a win would set up a tie for 3rd, leaving a chance to move on to Saturday.

In the matchup, Team Flaxey turned a 6-3 deficit into an even score in the 9th end. Team Harrison would end the excitement with a single in the final end, eliminated the Listowel rink from the tournament.
