Precarious Work Report

Owen Sound councillors will receive a report tonight on the struggles of the working poor in Grey-Bruce.

Peace and Justice Grey Bruce will present the final report of its Precarious Work Group.

The 32-page report is an economic argument for doing something about the rise of work that does not pay well enough to keep people out of poverty. This is becoming a stubborn problem for rural communities, as opportunities for good paying work disappear.

The report to Owen Sound council will include four recommendations that all Grey Bruce municipal councils could adopt.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
