Meaford Council Considers Moving Library

Meaford council wants to explore the possibility of moving the local library into another another public building, rather than having to build a new library.

Council Monday night voted to refer a Space Needs Analysis for the Meaford Public Library to municipal staff for further investigation. Council also wants staff to consider other alternatives to building a new library.

One of consultant’s findings showed the present library building no longer meets the needs of its members and the community, even if is renovated and expanded.

It's estimated a new new single storey library would cost almost $7 million.
