New Huron County Fire co-ordinator

Huron County has a new Fire Co-ordinator.

Goderich Fire Chief Steve Gardiner has taken over the position from Marty Bedard of Seaforth.

Gardiner explains a candidate serves four years as the alternate co-ordinator before stepping up to Fire Co-ordinator for the next four years.

Gardiner explain the Fire Co-ordinator acts as the spokesperson for the fire chiefs in the county, but his main job is co-ordinating the movement of manpower and equipment in a mutual aid situation where one fire department is helping out another one.

Gardiner adds in a particularly dry period where a fire ban has to be imposed, the Fire Co-ordinator makes that call in consultation with the other chiefs.
