Three Local Projects Get Funding From Aviva

Three local projects have been selected as part of the 2014 Aviva Community Fund finalists.

Camp Klahanie in Goderich has been selected as a Grand Prize winner and will receive up to $50,000 dollars. The Lion’s Club in Goderich is looking to construct four bunkhouses at the camp.

Holy Family School in Hanover and the Stratford Perth Humane Society were finalists and will each receive $5,000.

Holy Family will use the funding to fix their playground’s drainage system.

The SPHS was looking for help financing their new $2.4-million centre.

Over $5-million worth of donations were given to 40 winners from across the country.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
