Local Community Care Access Centre Promises Continued Service During ONA Strike

The South West Community Care Access Centre and the Waterloo Wellington Community Care Access Centre are among nine faced with the strike by the Ontario Nurses Association.

A spokesman for the access centre says contingency plans are being implemented to support the ongoing provision of priority services to patients during the labour disruption.

Patients transitioning from hospital will still receive support along with patients receiving care in homes, schools and clinics.

The CEO of the North Simcoe Muskoka CCAC says they are ready to return to the bargaining table.

The ONA says they want a similar wage increase to those received by nurses in hospitals, after enduring a two year wage freeze.

The Southwest CCAC covers nine counties including Bruce, Grey, Huron, Perth, Oxford and Middlesex.

The Waterloo Wellington CCAC covers Waterloo, Wellington and parts of Grey County.
