Grey Bruce Food Charter Draft Released

The Grey Bruce Health Unit and the Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force are promoting a healthy food system in the area.

The two organizations have released a draft version of a Food Charter.

Health Unit nutritionist Laura Needham says a food charter addresses how food is produced, distributed, sold, and enjoyed.     She says it's a vision that outlines goals and objectives of the community and can be the basis to affect policies by municipal decision makers.

Needham says they want input from the public on the draft version of the document.  It's available on the Grey Bruce Health Unit web site.
"A food charter is really only as strong as the community that's supporting it so we're hoping that the community really gets behind this and sees this as a way of getting their voice heard," says Needham.
