Charge Laid After Pedestrian Hit In Mitchell

A West Perth woman suffered minor injuries when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in Mitchell.

Perth County OPP says it happened about 9:30am this morning at the intersection of Ontario Rd. and St. Andrew St.

An investigation revealed that the 55-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Ontario Rd. using the pedestrian crosswalk, when she was struck by a slow moving SUV making a left turn from St. Andrew St.

The 52-year-old female driver from North Bay has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
