Meaford Still Seeking New Doctor

Efforts to bring a second doctor to set up practice at the new medical centre in Meaford have proven unsuccessful so far.

Brian Adamson, the co-chair of the North-East Grey Health Clinic building committee, says the local physician recruitment committee is in contact with several potential doctors, but the process takes time, and the earliest a new doctor might set up practice is September.

Adamson admits the competition is fierce among many small communities to find new doctors.

The Don Bumstead and Family Medical Centre officially opened last September. Only one family doctor has moved into the centre. The only other tenant so far is Georgian Bay Physiotherapy.

The $2.1-million medical centre can house four doctors.
