Former Woolwich Township Mayor Charged With Fraud

Former Woolwich Township Mayor Todd Cowan is facing charges following a provincial police investigation.

The OPP was contacted by Waterloo regional police last October requesting they conduct an investigation into expense claims filed by Cowan.

Police say the 50-year-old Cowan is charged with fraud under $5,000 and breach of trust.

He is to appear in Kitchener court on March 3.

Cowan was elected mayor of Woolwich in 2010, but finished last out of four candidates in last October's municipal election.
