Hospice Another Option For Terminally Ill

A caregiver in Grey Bruce says options for people near the end of their lives include a hospice setting.

Scott Lovell, the executive director of the Grey Bruce Residential Hospice, says he neither supports nor condemns the Canadian Supreme Court's decision allowing doctor assisted suicide under certain conditions. But Lovell says people need to know a hospice is a viable option.

"With an informed decision with a physician they may find their end of life needs better suited in a residential hospice setting than pursuing this other path," says Lovell.

Lovell says the Grey Bruce Residential Hospice, like all such facilities, provides dignity and compassion for people during their final days.
