Emergency Services Training In Blyth Seeks More Funding

The Emergency Services Training Centre in Blyth is asking Huron County for financial support in an effort to expand the courses and training that's offered.

North Huron's Director of Fire and Emergency Services Dave Sparling says for the last 10 years the Centre has primarily provided training to municipal firefighters. But they have had numerous requests for training for industry as well as other professionals.

Sparling has asked the County for a grant of 284-thousand-dollars over the next three years. County council referred the request to budget deliberations.

Sparling maintains the potential economic impact of providing the programs would be about 2.7-million-dollars a year for Huron County.
