Mount Forest Man Charged After Altercation

An altercation in Mount Forest Friday evening has resulted in firearms and uttering threats charges against one man.

Wellington county OPP were called about 7:30 p.m. Friday to a residence on Wellington Street East in Mount Forest.

Officers found a 54-year-old victim who had suffered injuries to his face, neck and shoulder.

The 56-year-old suspect was located in the basement of the residence and taken into custody without incident.

A loaded firearm was seized from the residence.

The victim was treated at hospital and later released. The suspect faces several charges including assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and pointing a firearm.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
