Owen Sound Cultural Award Winners

A married couple received the Patron Award for their work to preserve heritage in Owen Sound.

Frank and Leigh Greaves were among the winners recognized during the sixth annual Owen Sound Cultural Awards presentation Sunday at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

Long time Georgian Bay Symphony Musicial Director John Barnum received the lifetime achievement award.

Poet, author and artist Richard Yves Sitoski received the Emerging Artist Award with was the only award including a $500. cash prize.

Other recipients included: Local history researcher Paula Niall (Cultural Heritage), the Artists' Coop Legacy Workshop Series (Outstanding Event), Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival (Outstanding Festival), Fiddlefern Country Dancers (Outstanding Group), ceramicist, writer and photographer Steve Irvine (Outstanding Individual), and Val Underwood of Grey Roots Museum and Owen Sound Little Theatre (Volunteer Service).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
