Thieves Target Parked Vehicles in Mitchell

The cold weather isn't stopping thieves from searching for valuables in unlocked vehicles.

Perth County OPP received two calls from Mitchell yesterday. A Rowland Street resident was awakened by his vehicle alarm shortly after 5:00 in the morning. He spotted a suspect running away, and later determined that nothing was missing from his vehicle. A Quebec Street resident was not as fortunate. A wallet was taken from inside a vehicle between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. The wallet contained credit cards and personal documents.

Perth County OPP continue to get reports of vehicle entries. Wallets, loose change, sunglasses and CD's are commonly taken from unlocked vehicles. More valuable items like GPS and digital cameras are occasionally reported as well.

The OPP keep reminding people to "Lock It Or Lose It."
