Southgate's SPIRG Requests Financial Relief

Southgate resident Karl Chittka wants council to actively pursue court costs owed by a citizen group known as SPIRG.

The Southgate Public Interest Research Group was unsuccessfull three times in challenging a building permit issued for the Dundalk ECO Industrial Park.

The group still owes Southgate about $40,000 in court-awarded costs.

SPIRG recently claimed it has no ability to raise the money and asked council to consider some relief.

Chittka told council Wednesday that he expects it to "pursue every avenue to collect the money" owed to the township.
