Group Trying To Bring Aging Council To Grey-Bruce

As our population ages, there's an initiative in the works to create a council on aging in Grey and Bruce. The effort to create a council on aging is being coordinated by the Owen Sound and Area Seniors Centre.

Executive Director Jerrie Traynor says the council will provide a voice for seniors as well as ensuring they're aware of services available. Traynor says services exist, but there's isn't a coordinated effort to ensure suitable access and awareness.

"To strive to create opportunities to build on each communities strengths, and encourage quality services, and programs that meet the needs of older adults and also their families," says Traynor.

Information meetings on creating a Grey Bruce council on aging are planned for the coming few weeks. For more information call the Owen Sound and Area Seniors Centre at 519-376-8304. The upcoming meetings:

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
