Paul Martin Visits Saugeen District Secondary Today

Former Prime Minister Paul Martin will stop by Saugeen District Secondary School today to talk about the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative.

Martin will be at the school at 10am this morning along with Bruce Power President and Chief Executive Officer Duncan Hawthorne, first Nations Chief Vernon Roote, education officials and community leaders.

They'll be making an announcement about the program which provides Grade 11 and 12 students with business knowledge and financial literacy.

The unique program provides mentorship to help Aboriginal youth launch a business and achieve the skills for success.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
