Minto Battles Frozen Water Lines

The Town of Minto is battling water line freeze-ups, just like many other local municipalities this month.

The frost is penetrating deeper into the ground, and Minto had several new reports Wednesday of service lines freezing.

The Minto Water Department is asking customers in the older sections of Harriston, Palmerston and Clifford to run one cold water tap at a fast drip or a small stream until further notice. This will help prevent lines from freezing.

If customers feel their water pressure is dropping, they are being told to open the tap further until flow increases. Dropping pressure can be a sign that the line is beginning to freeze.
