The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority has a new chair.
Howick Township Reeve Art Versteeg replaces former Goderich Mayor Deb Shewfelt. Shewfelt now becomes vice-chair of the MVCA.
Jim Campbell from North Huron is the first vice-chair. Versteeg says the focus of the authority going forward will be flood and erosion safety services and stewardship initiatives.
Last summer and fall, General Manager Phil Beard made presentations to several member municipalities to explains that reductions in funding had forced the authority to focus on the things it does best and cut back on some of the peripheral activities.
