Grey County Approves 2015 Budget

Grey County has approved its 2015 budget with a two per cent decrease in the tax rate.

Director of Finance Kevin Weppler says the decrease was mainly accomplished by an increase in assessment.

"What I'm referring to is assessment growth which is new construction it could be new homes or commercial builds that in fact taxation from those new builds it's supplying us additional taxation that support our 2015 budget," says Weppler.

The decrease works out to savings of $18.61 for the average single family detached household in the Grey County portion of taxes. However, the municipal and education budgets still have to be factored in before the final tax bills are issued.

Grey County's total budget for 2015 is $135-million.
