The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene. Mildmay, Teeswater and Walkerton stations responded.
No one was home at the time of the blaze as the family was on vacation and was expected to return home today. The damage is estimated at more than $500,000 and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
A section of Hwy. 9 was closed for several hours this morning.
