Huron County Approves 2% Tax Increase

Huron County councilors have officially approved a 2015 budget.

Warden Paul Gowing says the target was a 2 per cent increase, and he was pleased that they met that target.

Gowing points out the increase of 2 per cent is a credit to the hard work of staff and senior management in light of the reductions in funding from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.

He also points out those reductions are going to continue over the next few years, and the county - and specifically its rural municipalities - are going to have to re-examine how they deliver services.
