Habitat For Humanity To Build In Sauble Beach This Summer

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce will be building a home for a family in Sauble Beach this summer.

Executive Director Greg Fryer says they received a donation of land on Frederick St. and are now going through the application process with 13 prospective families.

The board of directors will pick the qualifying family by the end of April.

Fryer says once they know who the successful family is, they can design the home to their needs.

"At that point, we'll work with the family with what their needs are, in terms of how many bedrooms they'll need and any other issues, and maybe some accessible issues that they need, and we need to build that into the design," says Fryer.

Habitat for Humanity has asked South Bruce Peninsula council to help reduce their costs by waiving building fees associated with the build.

Fryer says they will be looking for volunteers in Sauble Beach, and will hold an information session on April 23 at the Sauble Beach Community Centre at 7pm.
