Meaford Wants A Coat Of Arms

Meaford plans to ask the governor general to provide the municipality with its own coat of arms.

Meaford's committee of the whole recommended that council request the Canadian Crown "under the powers exercised by the governor general" provide the coat of arms.

In the same resolution, the committee also recommended that council pass a bylaw to set up a coat of arms working group to advise council.

Council has proposed that an official coat of arms for the Municipality of Meaford be developed and contain the symbols for the former townships of St. Vincent and Sydenham, before amalgamation.

Meaford council has included $6,000 for this project in its 2015 budget.
