Huron And Perth Counties Create Employee Benefit Consortium

Huron County councillors got some good news on Wednesday.

CAO Brenda Orchard says with the help of consultant Dennis Donnelly of Donnelly Management Advisory Services, Huron and its lower-tier municipalities formed a consortium for employee benefit packages with Perth County and its lower-tier municipalities, as well as the Tow of St. Marys.

Councillors have been told the consortium had realized a savings of over half-a-million dollars over the last two years.

Orchard adds without the consortium, the county had been looking double-digit increases in costs.

Orchard also points out Huron County is now free to use the money for other county expenses.
