Huron Seniors Receive New Funding

Two seniors groups in Huron County will benefit from the federal New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Local MP Ben Lobb has announced a grant of $9,839 for the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich. That will go towards an intergenerational garden project at the West Huron Care Centre.

Blue Water Rest Home CEO Angie Dunn said the garden project encourages further contact and interactions between older adults and the children at the West Huron Early Childhood Learning Centre.

In Goderich, Community Living Central Huron will receive $25,000. The money will go towards repaving their parking lot to make it safer.

"Seniors are valuable members of society who contribute a diversity of skills, knowledge and experience to their communities," said Lobb. “By partnering with organizations like the Blue Water Rest Home we can help keep seniors active and allow them to pass along knowledge to the young generations."
