McMeekin in Markdale Today

Ontario's Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing will be in Markdale this afternoon.

Ted McMeekin will meet with Grey Highlands Council at 2:00 o'clock in the council chambers in Markdale.

One of the reasons for his visit is to mark the 125th Anniversary of the birthday of Agnes Macphail.

Macphail was the first woman to be elected to the House of Commons, and one of the first two women elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. She was born in Proton Township, near Dundalk on March 24, 1890.

Yesterday, the South Grey Museum hosted a "Meet Agnes Macphail" event. It included a visit from Donna Mann, who is the author of the Agnes Macphail book series: "Aggie’s Storms", "Aggie’s Dream", and "Aggie’s Voice".
