Icebreaking Gets Underway In Goderich

Update: Ice-breaking has been moved to Friday.

Spring ice breaking operations are expected to get underway in the Goderich area Friday.

The icebreaker, USCGC Hollyhock will be clearing a path into the port of Goderich.

The Coast Guard warns of potentially unsafe ice conditions in the vicinity of the operations, and along shipping routes in the Great Lakes.

Icebreaking is going on to assist commercial shipping in various areas of the Great Lakes

Dates and routes can change without notice to to weather or ice conditions.

Broken icy tracks may not freeze over immediately and new snow can obscure those tracks.

Ice can be unsafe long after the operation is complete.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
