8th Street Reconstruction Starting In Owen Sound

Reconstruction of 8th St. E in Owen Sound gets underway Monday, March 30.

The tender for the project has been awarded to E.C. King Contracting.

The work is expected to be completed this fall. It will include widening about 500 m of roadway to allow bike lanes.

Sanitary sewers and watermains will also be replaced to the property line.

About 600 m of new storm sewer will be installed including catch basins and maintenance holes

Disturbed areas will be restored and Ryserson Park will be redeveloped.

8th St. E will be closed to through traffic between 4th and 8th Ave. E starting April 6.

Local access shall be maintained to affected properties and emergency response vehicles at all times.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
