Goderich To Install LED Lighting

The town of Goderich is joining other local municipalities in converting all of its street lighting to LED technology.

They've received five bids on the project which involves converting about 1,500 street lights, including parks and parking lots.

CAO Larry McCabe explains it's difficult to say exactly how much the conversion will cost until they know what lights and what fixtures they decide to use, but he estimates it will be in the neighbourhood of $1-million.

McCabe points out the LED lights will save enough in power consumption that they'll pay for themselves in about five years.

Once a contract is awarded, MacCabe estimates converting all the lights will probably take two to three weeks.
