Mapleton Township Ready To Pass Budget

The Town of Mapleton is one step closer to finalizing its 2015 budget.

Council held an open house Thursday at the Drayton Festival Theatre to hear what local residents had to say about the draft budget.

It represents a township tax rate increase of 6.1 per cent.

The budget includes capital projects of more than $13 million.

One of the major expenditures is the construction of a new municipal maintenance facility that combines the former Peel Shop that was lost in a 2013 fire and the Maryborough Shop.

There are also several road improvement projects and the purchase of a new tanker truck for the Drayton Fire Station.

Mapleton council will consider the final budget at a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
