Owen Sound Marks Earth Hour Tomorrow

Owen Sound will join thousands of other cities, towns and communities to mark Earth Hour Saturday evening.

The mayor and council have added their support to the global effort to raise awareness of how small changes can add up in the fight against climate change.

Residents are encouraged to shut off the lights and any non-essential electrical devices Saturday evening, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

Owen Sound will turn off non-essential lighting at city facilities.

The theme this year is "Use Your Power to Change Climate Change."

This is the ninth year for Earth Hour, and the World Wildlife Fund says it comes just months before a major international agreement on climate change is expected to be reached.
