Fundraiser to Support Families With Children Battling Cancer

Hundreds of high school students in Grey and Bruce will raise money to help families whose children have cancer.

The fundraiser is Wednesday at O-S-C-V-I in Owen Sound in memory of Brendan Rourke, a student at the school who died of the disease three years ago.

His father and mother, Neal and Rosanne Rourke, help organize the event.

Neal says money raised will go to Childcan, an Ontario organization that provides financial and emotional support to the families of children with cancer.

"Childcan provides a whole host of world class services, support services, for the families sent to London where their child is diagnosed and they hear those words, 'Your child has cancer.' "

Teams from schools across Grey and Bruce will ride stationary bikes at OSCVI and have donations pledged.
