Owen Sound Police Warn Renters To Beware of Scammers

Owen Sound Police are warning potential renters to be careful when looking for a place online.

They say fraudsters have been taking photos from homes on legitimate websites and using them on sites like Kijiji and Craigslist as available rentals.

When renters enquire about the posting, requests are made for money transfers in exchange for the key.

Police say to be extra careful when searching for homes online and if there is a money transfer requested as that can be an indicator of a fraudulent posting.
